The Anglican Church of St Agnes was built between 1883 and 1893 by the architect William Davis in the Decorated Gothic style.

Made of rusticated Hampstead red sandstone with Bath stone dressings and a banded tile roof, the interior is exposed Bath stone.

The church is orientated east to west with the plan consiting of a nave, north and south aisle, chancel, north and south transept, south vestry, north organ chamber, north porch, west porch and west tower.

St Agnes Church is part of the St Agnes Conservation Area, and is near Oxford Road which leads towards Moseley Village and St Mary's Row.

The memorial lychgate was built in 1938.

Nearby was the former homes of Frederick Lanchester and his brother George Lanchester, they were involved with the Lanchester Motor Company in the 1900s.

The church was named after Canon Colmore's wife, Agnes.

It was built in two stages, from 1883 to 1884 and 1892 to 1893, with the tower completed in 1932.

During WW2, in December 1940, a bomb exploded in the south-west corner of the churchyard causing some damage, including the aisle windows which were largely replaced in the 1950s and the partial destruction of the banded tile roof.
