In brief
Birmingham City Transport opened the Yardley Wood Omnibus Garage on the 9th November 1938. Built in the art deco style, with a large office block. Today the building is run by National Express West Midlands, and is home to the following bus routes: 2, 3, 6, 18, 76 and 50 (and more).

It was opened for Birmingham City Transport in November 1938.

By the 1980s it was run by the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive, that later became West Midlands Travel, and by the 1990s Travel West Midlands.
National Express bought the company and by the late 2000s renamed it to National Express West Midlands.
An Open Day was held by National Express West Midlands for it's 75th birthday in October 2013.

The last open day was held for the garages 80th birthday in November 2018.

The garage is home to the no 6 bus route, which in 2020, became the first route to get Electric buses. The 6 goes between Birmingham and Solihull via Digbeth, Camp Hill, Sparkbrook, Sparkhill, Hall Green and Shirley.

The garage is also home to the world famous no 50 bus route between Birmingham and Druids Heath (via Balsall Heath, Moseley, Kings Heath and The Maypole).
