Paragon Hotel - History and Heritage of Birmingham

Paragon Hotel is a magnificent Victorian Gothic style six-storey hotel. It was built in 1903 as Rowton House and was originally owned by Lord Rowton.


Rowton House was built by Lord Rowton to provide decent hostel accommodation for migrant workers arriving from Ireland withthe offer of work in Birmingham’s factories.

The building fell into disuse in the 1960s and in 1993, it was was relaunched as a 250 room hotel named The Paragon Hotel.

The building is Grade II listed.
