It borders a number of privately owned listed buildings including the 17th Century Grade II* listed New Hall Mill, which is a corn mill. One of only two working water mills left in Birmingham (the other one being Sarehole Mill on the Moseley / Hall Green border in the Shire Country Park).

New Hall Mill

The current New Hall Mill building dates to the 18th Century and is now a Grade II* listed building. Built of red brick with a tiled roof. It includes the mill machinery and water wheel, which have been restored to full working order. The mill is usually closed in the Winter. But normally it is only open during the May to September season on certain open days. It also opens on the Spring and Late Summer Bank Holiday's.

The mill can be accessed from Wylde Green Road and going up New Hall Drive. But if you visit in winter, you can only look at it from the road or from the country park.

Wincelle House

If heading between park sections on Wylde Green Road, or off to find New Hall Mill (see above), you might pass this privately owned home called Wincelle House. The house is a
Grade II Listed Building dating from the early 15th Century. It was removed from Wishaw in Sutton Coldfield in 1910. Some timbers had been renewed. Plaster infilling, gabled tiled roof. It's just after the traffic lights, and is visible from the road to the mill.

Plants Brook

The Plants Brook flows through both New Hall Valley Country Park and Pype Hayes Park, and there is a walking path alongside it, so you can walk or cycle between both parks. Part of the walk takes you past Walmley Golf Club and the Ramada by Wyndham Birmingham Sutton Coldfield hotel.
